FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“I am pleased to be in Baghdad and to have the opportunity to come personally to the Ministry to express on behalf of President Obama and the U.S. our profound condolences to the families of those who lost their lives on August 19 and to the victims who are struggling now to recover and recuperate.
This is an experience that we have had sadly ourselves in many instances and we totally understand how devastating and painful such a heinous act of terrorism is. And the U.S. stands with you, your colleagues, and all people in Iraq in sorrow and in solidarity.
The people working here were laboring every day to bring to fruition our shared dream of a strong, stable, and sovereign Iraq and that day has arrived. And now you’re working to consolidate it. These were people working for Iraq’s future and we stand with you and are looking forward to that strong, bright future.
We wish you well and we remain with you in partnership.”
