I join my colleagues on the national security team in lauding General Jim Jones' extraordinary career of service to our country. He is a true patriot, a genuine gentleman and a dedicated public servant. I am grateful for his friendship and leadership.

Jim's many accomplishments as National Security Advisor range from helping reset relations with Russia to making development an integral part of our national security strategy. It has been a privilege to serve with him.

No one has worked harder and smarter on the toughest national security challenges facing our country than my long-time friend and invaluable colleague, Tom Donilon. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him when he assumes the role of National Security Advisor.
