Good afternoon, I’ll make a brief statement on behalf of the Security Council regarding our deliberations on Nepal.

Members of the Security Council thanked Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs, Lynn Pascoe, for his report on his visit to Nepal ahead of the United Nations Mission in Nepal’s termination on 15 January 2011.

Members of the Security Council underlined the need for the Government of Nepal and all political parties to take advantage of UNMIN’s last weeks and to work in the spirit of compromise to ensure that real progress is made. In this regard, Council members recalled the Council’s Press Statement of 22 October 2010.

Thank you.
