FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The United States strongly condemns today’s craven assault by suicide attackers on the office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Kandahar. Over the years, the UN’s refugee agency has provided care and refuge for millions of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable people. Today’s attack underscores the moral bankruptcy of the attackers and the bravery of humanitarians who serve others at great risk. The United States extends our deepest condolences to the UN, to the loved ones of the victims, and to the families and individuals who will be impacted by this tragedy.
