The United States joins consensus on this International Covenants resolution and would like to deliver the following Explanation of Position.

We thank Sweden and the Nordic nations, the main sponsors of this resolution, for developing a streamlined resolution that commands broad support.

By “welcoming” the reports of the Human Rights Committee and the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in the first two paragraphs of the resolution, the United States welcomes the good work and efforts of those committees.
