The Group of Friends on Western Sahara welcomed the announcement of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Christopher Ross’s upcoming trip to the region, including to Western Sahara. They expressed their support for the mediation efforts of the Secretary General and his personal envoy in preparation for the next stage of their engagement with the parties and the neighboring states. The Group of Friends on Western Sahara encouraged the parties to show flexibility in their engagement with the personal envoy and each other, in the hopes of ending the current impasse and achieving progress towards a political solution.
