FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On the 19th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide, we stand with the people of Rwanda as they honor and grieve all who lost their lives--mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. We also celebrate those who are working to usher in a new chapter in Rwanda's history.
We are bound together by a determination to learn the lessons of our past failures so we can put an end to genocide once and for all. This is our duty to all who perished and to all those who are building Rwanda's future. Today, as we remember the more than 800,000 who lost their lives, we renew our commitment to the protection of the vulnerable wherever they are.
