Today, Ambassador Samantha Power launched her Facebook page as part of her broader effort to hear directly from people around the world and to share her experiences as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Ambassador Power plans to use the platform to engage with and learn from individuals about the issues they care about and the work they are doing in their own communities in the United States and abroad.
In her first post to her new Facebook page, Ambassador Power said she has “regular discussions with official representatives of every conceivable culture, background, and creed” and that her goal in joining is to “expand that conversation further – to include the more than 1 billion people who use Facebook, seventy percent of whom live outside the United States.”
On Monday, February 24, at 3:15 PST (6:15 EST) she will lead a Facebook chat from Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, CA to discuss the impact people can have in their local communities. Users can send questions by tweeting using the hashtag #WhatMatters or posting questions on: Facebook.com/AmbassadorPower.
