AS DELIVERED

The United States welcomes the successful conclusion of this meeting and the consensus agreement we reached on the outcome document.

We also express our congratulations and appreciation to you, Mr. Chairman, the moderator, Anthony Simpson, and the Secretariat for your tireless efforts to bring us to this point.

The United States states, in connection with paragraph 48, that any assistance and any transfer of technology and equipment will be provided at its discretion, as appropriate, and pursuant to mutually agreed terms.

And while we support the work done at this meeting, we are disassociating from the reference to paragraph 11 of the Preamble of the Programme of Action, which addresses self-determination and foreign occupation, as contained in paragraph three of the report, as we do not consider this language to be appropriate for this report.
